mainToday we ad a great project day!  Our therapy dog Lykos spent the whole day with us. In the morning we briefly discussed what will happen the rest of the day and then we began. Using several of the educational games and materials in our classroom we learned lots of new and interesting information about dogs. There are many dog breeds and dog jobs.  We know the parts of the body of a dog and their special names.  Our visual aids were always up on the board for the children to see.   We also were able to reward Lykos when he performed a special trick.  Our gym lesson took place outside where we ran slalom and had competitions against Lykos.  It couldn’t had been the dog treats as sometimes we also got some (only the chocolate ones!!!, as Lykos is not allowed to eat chocolate) Maybe it was the fact that Lykos’  got 4 legs and we only’ have got 2? Back in the classroom we tested our new acquired knowledge.  The winner of the quiz received a dog poster from the teacher.  Hopefully we can do it again!

There were other stations where the children could make handicrafts, read books.  Naturally we got sufficient extra strength that day from the Styrian apples we provided the children with.

Our Motto on this day: an ‘Apple a day keeps the doctor away’

On Friday November 13th we went to the reading workshop on Benoullistraße.  Part of the school on Bernoullistraße has been transformed into a pretend city where the children were able to try out different tasks at the pretend stores and restaurants.  Through playful situations like reading the supermarket grocery list, reading the restaurant menu, checking out the movie listings, putting up a show at the marionette stand or writing letters at the post office and then sending them by mail.  It was a fun and educational day which ended far too soon for the children.
